Humans being time

Humans Being Time is a 24 hour performance piece first achieved as a proof of concept on September 26, 02022 in Barcelona.

From 00:00 on September 26, 02022 to 00:00 on September 27, 02022 we filmed a 24 hour performance at Potassi K19 Gallery in Barcelona, of people forming the numerals of a digital clock. Over 24 hours, humans came in and out, moved pieces of cloth and discovered new creative ways to alter their position as minute by minute, time continued to march on.

At times it was messy and chaotic and fallible – humans cannot always be relied on to follow orders and correctly position themselves in time as easily as a digital clock, but nonetheless we were left with a 24 hour document, that can also be used as a clock to tell the time.

If you are using this clock to tell the time, please be aware of the following human error:

From 12:40 – 12:51 the clock mistakenly reads 13:40 – 13:51. If you happen to glance at the clock during these 12 minutes please be assured you are not late, but are actually living these dozen extra minutes momentarily in the future. Perhaps you can use them as a dress rehearsal for the real 13:40 – 13:51 which will once again appear in the following hour.

..... only 13:40 never comes.... Instead from 13:40 – 13:50, the clock reads 13:3X for the entire time.
