Humans Being Time is a 24 hour performance piece achieved as a second proof of concept on September 21, 02024 in Les Planes d´Hostoles.
From 00:00 on September 21, 02024 to 00:00 on September 22, 02024 we filmed a 24 hour performance at Chinanagoland, DUSOL, of people forming the numerals of a digital clock. Over 24 hours, humans came in and out, moved pieces of cloth and discovered new creative ways to alter their position as minute by minute, time continued to march on.
At times it was messy and chaotic and fallible† – humans cannot always be relied on to follow orders and correctly position themselves in time as easily as a digital clock, but nonetheless we were left with a 24 hour document, that can also be used as a clock to tell the time.
† If you are using this clock to tell the time, please be aware of the following human error:
From 00:33 – 1:00 and again from 3:19 – 5:05, both cameras failed. Given the venues limitations at the time, we had to run the whole operation from batteries and unfortunately we encountered some technically difficulties.
On 30th November, 02024 we gathered a small team to shoot the missing time pick ups and Marc Swadel edited those into the original piece.
